Study Finds Social Media Causes Spike In Suicidal Thoughts In Young People

Description

A new study suggests that social media may be causing mental health problems in young people, says UPI. Suicidal thoughts and actions from young adults spiked by nearly 50% between 2008 to 2017. This is according to findings from a study published Thursday in Journal of Abnormal Psychology. Young adults also reported a more than 50% increase in major depressive symptoms between 2005 and 2017. Researchers suggest young people may also be feeling worse because they haven't had enough sleep due to social media addiction.

Among them were Trump campaign lawyer Jenna Ellis, and the conservative high school student Nicholas Sandmann. In recent weeks, Wood has filed or joined lawsuits to overturn President-elect Joe Biden's election victory. Wood has also cited conspiracy theories in the past.
