  • San Francisco's Homeless Population Increased 17% In Two Years

    In January, a preliminary one-night tally of San Francisco's homeless population was taken. The tally counted 8,011 homeless people, which is up 17% from two years ago. According to Business Insider, a key reason for the increase is a 45% rise in people in the city living out of their vehicles, such as RVs. The increased count shows how San Francisco's long-standing homelessness crisis is worsening. And the crisis isn't isolated to San Francisco alone. 24% of the total U.S.

  • Russia Wants To Play Nice?

    According to Reuters, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Tuesday it was time for Moscow and Washington to put aside years of mistrust and find a way to work together constructively. Pompeo is in the Russian Black Sea resort of Sochi for talks with his Russian counterpart, and later on Tuesday will also hold consultations with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

    WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris said on Sunday that U.S. officials should consider breaking up Facebook Inc, the world’s largest social media company, saying it is a utility that has gone unregulated. “I think we have to seriously take a look at that (breaking up Facebook), yes,” Harris said in an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper. Some other U.S. lawmakers, including Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren, have pushed for action to break up big tech companies as well as federal privacy regulation.
