Judge Rules It's Fine If Unvaccinated Children Mingle In Measles Hot Zone

Description

A state judge has ruled against one New York county’s effort to stem a massive measles outbreak. In March, Rockland County banned unvaccinated children from public places. According to Splinter, Judge Rolf Thorson stopped the controversial month long ban after just ten days. It mandated fines and short-term jail sentences to parents who allowed unvaccinated children to attend schools, parks, malls, and other public spaces. Rockland County is in the midst of a major medical emergency, with 167 cases of measles confirmed as of Friday. Officials had hoped the extreme measure would spur parents to finally bite the bullet and vaccinate their kids.
