Instead of Throwing Food Away, Indiana Elementary School Sends Uneaten Food Home With Needy Kids

Mother Nature Network reports that a new pilot program at an Indiana elementary school is changing the way leftovers are handled. The program takes food that normally would've gone to waste and turns it into meals for students in need. Woodland Elementary School in Elkhart, Indiana sends students home with insulated backpacks filled with frozen meals to feed them through the weekend.

The kit will be available as an over-the-counter item, and not require a prescription to purchase it. The LabCorp Pixel COVID-19 Test Home Collection Kit will be available to anyone 18 and older. According to CNN, the kit uses nasal swab s to collect samples for testing. The samples are then sent to a LabCorp facility for testing.
