Eros, a seven year old Labrador, is a tried-and-true delivery dog. His owner Maria runs the El Porvenir minimarket in Medellin and she sends Eros to deliver groceries to customers' doors. His deliveries range from eggs, milk and bread to sausages, and they have always arrived full. Eros loves when customers tip him, especially with bananas!
No, this isn't another dog costume contest. These are serious working pooches decked out in winter uniforms. The police mountain patrol dogs are part of Chile's national police. The Canine Training School of the Carabiniers of Chile, the country's national police force, presented special attire for their service dogs on patrol at the Farellones Ski Resort, located about 22 miles from the Chilean capital of Santiago, designed to protect the hard-working mountain police hounds from frost and possible injuries.
Two Chilean environmentalists successfully deployed three Border Collies to plant trees in the region of El Maule, which was devastated in wildfires, in order to regrow the once bountiful forest. In January, eleven people lost their lives in wildfires that burned down more than 467,000 hectares of forest across the nation. These brave and joyful pups are helping bring back the trees.
