Nickelodeon Ships Slime Off To Space

Description

The Earth has been slimed by Nickelodeon’s green goo, but what happens when it hits outer space? According to Geek.com, that's what Nick plans to test when it sends their trademark green slime out on SpaceX's next commercial resupply mission to the International Space Station. The trip, which is set to leave from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station around July 21, is sponsored by the U.S. National Laboratory. Nickelodeon's slime is one of 17 private-sector research projects that will be tested to “educate students on the basic principles of fluid flow in microgravity.” The slime, which is a blend of oatmeal, vanilla pudding, apple sauce, and green food coloring, has been synonymous with Nickelodeon since its introduction on You Can’t Do That On Television, in the 1980s. It's now used in their awards shows, among other shows. Christine Kretz, ISS National Lab vice president of business development and strategy explains, “This launch showcases both the potential of the ISS National Lab to reach a wide range of private-sector users and the increased appeal of conducting research in the unique environment of low Earth orbit."
