U.S. Envoy: Peace Talks With Taliban 'Most Productive'

Description

Reuters reports U.S. and Taliban officials will reconvene on Tuesday to continue peace talks. U.S envoy Zalmay Khalilzad has been holding peace talks with the Taliban to end the 18-year war in Afghanistan since last year. Khalilzad tweeted the latest round of discussions with the hardline Islamists group were the “most productive session” to date. He said progress had been made on counter-terrorism assurances, troop withdrawal, participation in intra-Afghan dialogue, and a permanent ceasefire.
