Jussie Smollett Reportedly Closed Investigation Weeks Before Case Was Dismissed

According to a report by CNN, police documents released on Thursday show that one week after actor Jussie Smollet turned himself in to Chicago authorities in late February, the Cook County State Attorney's Office told police they could no longer investigate the hate crime turned false report case. Assistant State Attorney Risa Lanier reportedly told authorities she felt the case would be settled by Smollett paying "Chicago $10K in restitution and doing community service.
