Nissan Motors Ibérica will soon complete the testing phase of a pioneering exoskeleton project before integration into production lines at Barcelona’s Zona Franca plant. The external exoskeleton devices help reduce the stresses normally placed on the muscles of line workers by up to 60%, lowering the risk of work-related injuries and enhancing overall wellbeing.The Catalan Automotive Industry Cluster (CIAC) is sponsoring the project to introduce exoskeletons into the automotive industry, with the Eurecat Technology Centre and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) also taking part.Nissan Spain has facilitated the extensive testing of the exoskeletons in a real production setting, trialling five different models that support the legs, shoulders and back since the start of 2018. Feedback from the 14 participating employees helped Nissan identify the two models offering the lowest weight, highest level of and best performance.

South Korean tech giant Samsung announced that it would be permanently stopping production of the Galaxy Note 7 smartphone. The decision to cease production came after reports that the devices were unsafe and had been catching fire. Owners of the phone are expected to be able to get a refund or exchange it for another Samsung phone. Samsung already made a voluntary global recall of 2.5 million Galaxy Note 7 phones in September, in response to reports which claimed that the batteries caught fire.
Kyrgyzstan appears to have blocked TikTok after the Central Asian country's security services called to restrict the social media app to "protect children". Kyrgyzstan's digital ministry on April 16 said it had "informed telecommunications operators of the need to limit access to TikTok, based on a decision by the security services". IMAGES
Electrification continues at BMW Group Plant Leipzig: Four months after launching production of the combustion-engined MINI Countryman, the all-electric version is now rolling off the lines at Leipzig as well. After phasing out production of the BMW i3, the birthplace of electric mobility at the BMW Group has welcomed another fully electric car to its range. It now manufactures four models with three drive types by two brands, all on a single production line: the BMW 1 Series, the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer (including the plug-in hybrid version), the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe and the MINI Countryman in both its fully electric and combustion-powered versions.The MINI Countryman Electric represents a major step in the MINI brand’s transition to full electrification by 2030 and combines an electrified go-kart feel with zero local emissions mobility. It comes in two fully electric variants: the Countryman E and the more powerful all-wheel Countryman SE ALL4. "
