Will A Birth Strike Fight Climate Change?

Description

According to CNN.com, "Climate change is rapidly changing the environment we live in. But how far would you be willing to go to help save the planet? For 33-year-old British musician Blythe Pepino the latter is a reality. Her fears about climate change are so strong she has decided not to have biological children." Pepino told the press, "I really want a kid. I love my partner and I want a family with him but I don't feel like this is a time that you can do that."

  • Blockchain: secret weapon in the fight against climate change in Thailand

Bangkok, Dec 13 (EFE/EPA).- Although when many people hear the term, they immediately think of billionaire cryptocurrency investors, blockchain technology is also useful in developing sustainable agriculture or energy efficiency, two initiatives that contribute to the fight against the climate crisis in places like Indonesia or Thailand. In Bangkok, dozens of students exercise on the grass field at the Bangkok Prep International School while solar panels on the roofs of the campus buildings harness electricity. The school is located in the Town Sukhumvit 77 (T77) community, which hosts the first peer-to-peer (P2P) blockchain-powered renewable energy trading platform in Southeast Asia since 2018.Blockchain works as a P2P network, so the energy exchange takes place without intermediaries in a secure and decentralized way and can be controlled in real time through software on a computer or cell phone. This cutting-edge initiative stands out as an oasis in Bangkok, where tangled clutters of power cables hang dangerously overhead in most streets of a country not precisely known for its environmental sustainability.
