Facebook Gets Called Out By Co-Founder In New Op-Ed

Description

Chris Hughes is one of Facebook's original founders along with Mark Zuckerberg, says Business Insider. Hughes has publicly called for Facebook to be broken up in a new scathing New York Times op-ed. He called Mark's power "unprecedented and un-American" and Facebook has turned into a dangerous monopoly. Hughes realized the damage after the 2016 U.S. election and 2018's Cambridge Analytica scandal. He says Zuckerberg's power is that of oil or transportation barons of the 19th Century and should be reigned in. "The American government needs to do two things: break up Facebook's monopoly and regulate the company to make it more accountable to the American people." Senator Elizabeth Warren is one of the officials publicly supporting Hughes' call to break up Facebook.
