Elizabeth Warren Agrees With Facebook Co Founder's Criticism

Facebook co founder Chris Hughes recently suggested breaking up the company. Sen. Elizabeth Warren said Hughes is right and that “big tech companies have too much power.” Her comments come two months after Warren rolled out her own plan to break up the largest U.S. tech companies. According to Business Insider, her plan includes Facebook, Amazon and Google. Warren said: "They've bulldozed competition, used our private info for profit, hurt small businesses & stifled innovation.”

    Last year, data scientist Rebekah Jones was fired by the Florida Department of Health. Part of her job was to work on the state's COVID-19 dashboard. However, she continued to publish her own Florida COVID-19 data independently, through her own dashboard. In December, Florida law enforcement raided her home, brandishing weapons at her young children. They seized computers, phones, and external storage drives in connection with an alleged hack. Now, Business Insider reports an arrest warrant has been issued for Jones, although it's not clear with what crime Florida officials plan to charge. Jones has agreed to turn herself in, calling the charges 'bogus' and an attempt to silence her for being a scientist critical of the government.

    Shares of Chinese shopping website Alibaba fell as much as 3% on Monday. The prolonged absence from the public view of its founder Jack Ma has raised eyebrows. The bill is called the Expanding COVID-19 Testing Capacity Act of 2020. The bill would also require protections for those who are hired as a result of the bill. The federal government would manufacture and distribute COVID-19 diagnostic tests. The kits would be delivered to community centers, congregate care settings, schools, and childcare facilities. The kits would also go to religious centers, prisons and jails, businesses that employ essential workers." This legislation would also allocate another $25 billion in state, local, territorial, and tribal testing systems.
