Trump Says He Will Increase Chinese Tariffs If No Deal Made By G20 Meeting

Description

Reuters reports President Donald Trump said Monday he has plans to impose another round of tariffs on Chinese imports. The U.S. president said he will slap new tariffs on China if he can't make a deal with Chinese president Xi Jinping at a G20 summit later this month. Trump has repeatedly said he expects to meet China's president at the June 28-29 summit in Osaka, Japan. China has not confirmed its presence at the meeting. Trump told CNBC Monday that he has a “great relationship” with Xi and that Beijing wants to make a deal with the United States. China’s foreign ministry said Monday that China is open to more trade talks with Washington but has no current plans for a meeting.
