Archaeologists In Germany Open 1,000-Year-Old Sarcophagus Found In Church

Description

According to a report by CNN, archaeologists in the German city of Mainz have exhumed a 1,000 year old sarcophagus, uncovering the decomposed remains of what may be a former Archbishop who died in the 11th century. The stone coffin was first uncovered through excavations within St. Johannis Church in 2017, when a corner of the receptacle was revealed beneath the church floor.
