Italian Government Cracks Down On Ship Captains Who Rescue Migrants

Description

The captains, owners, and operators of migrant rescue ships docking in Italy without authorization could soon face fines of up to $57,000. According to CNN, the fines are part of an Italian government crackdown that the United Nations warns violates international law. The decree was promoted by populist Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Matteo Salvini.
