Director Patty Jenkins did not expect the movie to release first on a streaming platform. She believes now is the time for people to see it. Jenkins said she wishes more audiences could see the film in a theater, but she's happy it's finally releasing. Last week Warner Bros. announced it will make the studio's entire 2021 slate of films available to HBO Max subscribers without an additional fee.
The American version of Gillian Flynn’s conspiracy theory thriller 'Utopia' has been cancelled by Amazon. Gizmodo reports the series received a fairly poor reception all around. The news comes via the Hollywood Reporter, noting that this is the end of a journey for the series that began in 2014. HBO initially picked up the show, however they later passed. David Fincher was eyed to direct but he left the project. The series is about a global conspiracy surrounding a horrible pandemic. To many Tv viewers it felt too close to home.
CNN reports that Oscar-winner Barry Jenkins has signed on to direct a sequel of the "The Lion King." The live-action "Lion King" was a success, grossing an estimated $1.66 billion worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo. The cast included Donald Glover and Beyoncé. Jenkins said that being able to work with Disney and expand it's reach into the African diaspora is "a dream come true."
