Europe Is Still Sizzling, But Temps Are Starting To Drop

Description

A four-day heatwave across western Europe that killed seven people began to ease slightly on Sunday. Reuters reports temperature alerts were cut back and wildfires are slowly being brought under control. France experienced a national record of 114.6 Fahrenheit in the south on Friday, but temperatures are set to fall gradually. Meteorologists say a weakening of the high-level jet stream is causing weather systems to stall, leading to searing summer heat. Five of Europe’s hottest summers in the last 500 years have happened in this century.
