Catastrophic Floods Cause Widespread Damage In The Midwest

Description

According to a report by Reuters, on Tuesday, US Vice President Mike Pence prepared to tour the Midwest after severe flooding caused by rainfall and melting snow devastated farms and towns in Nebraska and Iowa, leaving at least four people dead and causing hundreds of millions of dollars in damage. Reuters reports that the floods, which came after a powerful winter hurricane that hammered the region last week, inundated parts of both states along the Missouri River. The water reportedly flooded homes, covering about a third of the US Air Force Base that is home to the United States Strategic Command, and cut off access to a nuclear power facility in the area. By Monday evening, more than 600 residents had been evacuated and taken to American Red Cross-operated shelters.
