NYC Mayor De Blasio Wants To Spend $10B To Save Wall Street From Flooding

Description

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio just revealed a $10 billion plan to extend Manhattan's coastline by up to two city blocks. The mayor said the project will protect the Financial District from flooding due to sea level rise. The Financial District is home to around 500,000 jobs, says Business Insider. The proposed extension would run from the Brooklyn Bridge to Battery Park. De Blasio wrote an editorial, stating, "We're going to build it, because we have no choice."
