Porsche Cayenne Coupé Design Preview

Description

Porsche SUV range is extending its family. With the introduction of the new Cayenne Coupe, Porsche is extending the family of the third generation of its successful five-door, four wheel-drive sports car with a more sporting derivative. "The Coupé includes all the technical highlights of the current Cayenne, and its more dynamic design and new technical details position it as more progressive, athletic, and emotional," says Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG.Key highlights of the new Cayenne model include sharper styling with a unique rear body section, an adaptive rear spoiler, a rear bench with the characteristics of two individual seats, and two different roof styles - a panoramic fixed glass roof fitted as standard, and an optional carbon-fibre roof.A steeply sloping roof line creates purposeful eleganceDynamic proportions combine with custom design elements to lend the new Cayenne Coupé a distinctly purposeful elegance. "The distinctive roof flyline that falls away to the rear makes the Porsche Cayenne Coupé appear more dynamic, and positions it as the most sporting-looking model in the market segment," says Michael Mauer, Vice President Style Porsche. That effect is supported by a roof spoiler, which accentuates the distinctive Coupé silhouette. The front windscreen and A-pillar are shallower than in the Cayenne, courtesy of a roof that has been lowered by around 20 mm. Redesigned rear doors and wheel arches broaden the shoulders of the car by 18 mm, contributing to an overall muscular stance. The rear number plate is integrated into the bumper, making the vehicle seem closer to the ground.

Porsche is extending its Cayenne family. An even sportier vehicle has been added to the third generation of this highly successful SUV range - the Porsche Cayenne Coupé. "The Coupé includes all the technical highlights of the current Cayenne, but has an even more dynamic design and new technical details that position it as more progressive, athletic, and emotional," says Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG. The highlights of the new Cayenne model include sharper lines with a totally unique rear section, an adaptive rear spoiler, a rear bench with the characteristics of two individual seats, and two different roof concepts - a panoramic fixed glass roof fitted as standard, and an optional carbon roof.Proportions that are more dynamic combine with custom design elements to lend the new Cayenne Coupé an unrivalled elegance. "The significantly more steep roof line that falls away to the rear makes the Cayenne Coupé appear even more dynamic, and positions it as the sportiest-looking model in the segment," says Michael Mauer, Vice President Style Porsche. That effect is supported by a roof spoiler, which accentuates the distinctive Coupé silhouette. The front windscreen and A-pillar are shallower than in the Cayenne, courtesy of a roof edge that has been lowered by around 20 millimetres. Redesigned rear doors and fenders broaden the shoulders of this vehicle by 18 millimetres, contributing to its overall muscular impression. The rear number plate is integrated into the bumper, making the vehicle seem closer to the ground.

Its 471 kW four-litre biturbo V8 provides the basis for superb driving characteristics. With 67 kW (90 PS) more than the Cayenne Turbo Coupé and maximum torque of 850 Nm (an increase of 80 Nm), the 0-100 km/h sprint is reduced to 3.3 seconds (0.6 s less) and top speed is now 300 km/h (an increase of 14 km/h). With even sportier lines and available exclusively as a four-seater Coupé, the Cayenne Turbo GT comes with all available chassis systems fitted as standard and performance tyres developed specially for this model. The powertrain and chassis also have a unique set-up specifically tuned for the Cayenne Turbo GT. The result is a harmonious overall concept with superb racetrack capability. This has been proven by Porsche test driver Lars Kern, who lapped the 20.832 km Nürburgring Nordschleife with the Cayenne Turbo GT in a time of 7:38.9 minutes, setting a new official SUV record.

Dynamism and exclusivity together: with the Porsche Cayenne GTS and Cayenne GTS Coupé, Porsche is supplementing its SUV line-up with two new models designed with superb driving performance in mind. Typically for the GTS models, the powertrain plays a particularly important part: instead of the 3.6-litre V6 biturbo engine from its predecessor, a V8 heart now beats once more under the bonnet of the Porsche Cayenne GTS. With an output of 338 kW (460 PS) and torque of 620 Nm, the four-litre biturbo engine offers significantly improved performance in all disciplines. Both GTS models sprint from 0 - 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds with the Sport Chrono package and have a top speed of 270 km/h. A lowered performance-oriented chassis, a unique design and enhanced equipment round off the new GTS package. With the Porsche-developed four-litre V8 biturbo engine from the flagship Cayenne model, the new Porsche Cayenne GTS now delivers 14 kW (20 PS) and 20 Nm more than its predecessor. This leads to significantly improved performance, something which applies equally to the new Cayenne GTS Coupé: the standard sprint from 0 - 100 km/h is now 0.6 seconds faster than before with the Sport Chrono package. Top speed has been increased by eight km/h. At the same time, great importance has been placed on efficiency. Among other things, this has been achieved by the optimally matched Tiptronic S eight-speed automatic transmission, adaptive cylinder control, direct petrol injection with central injector position and an intelligently designed thermal management system. According to the NEDC combined cycle, the sportiest Cayenne models offer a fuel consumption of 11.4 to 11.2 l/100 km.

The new Cayenne now has a particularly expressive appearance. A new front end combined with more strongly arched wings, a new bonnet and technically appealing headlights emphasises the vehicle’s width. Three-dimensionally designed tail lights, uncluttered surfaces beneath and a new rear apron with integrated number plate holder characterise the rear end design of the new Cayenne. An expanded colour palette with three new colours, lightweight sports packages saving up to 33 kilograms for the Cayenne Coupé, and a new extensive range of 20, 21, and 22-inch wheels make it possible to individually and dynamically configure the new Cayenne.Matrix LED Headlights are now standard in the new Cayenne. HD Matrix LED Headlights are a new optional feature. With two high-definition modules and more than 32,000 pixels per headlamp, their innovative technology picks out other users and blocks out the light of the high beam to them with pixel accuracy so as not to dazzle them. The brightness of the modules can be regulated in more than 1,000 steps depending on the driving situation. Customised light modes increase safety and comfort in different driving situations.Porsche has also introduced an air quality system in the new Cayenne. As standard, the vehicle uses predictive navigation data to detect approaching tunnel entrances and automatically activates air recirculation. Optionally, a sensor detects the level of fine dust particles in the air and passes it through the fine dust filter multiple times if necessary. Furthermore, an ioniser removes many germs and pollutants from the air, which is particularly beneficial for allergy sufferers.
