Mayor Pete Ousts Beto O'Rourke For Media Darling Of The Month

Description

As Mayor Pete Buttigieg ignited his presidential campaign, he temporarily torched his Democratic competition in the process. According to Politico, the secret to Buttigieg’s publicity run was no secret: he can’t stop saying “yes” to media invitations. In recent weeks he’s appeared on a CNN town hall, Ellen, and Morning Joe, and has been featured in New York, Politico Magazine, the Atlantic, among others. The press once treated Cory Booker and Elizabeth Warren are now dismissed as known, lackluster quantities. And the things that once seemed so appealing about Beto O’Rourke to the press seem off-putting now. The press used to impart its O’Rourke infatuation by referring to him by his first name in its stories. Now, journalists have moved on to doing that with Buttigieg, instead.
