  • Louis Vuitton show its Cruise collection in the gardens of the Maeght Foundation

Creative Director: Nicolas GhesquièreInspiration: following Chanel and Dior, it's the turn of Louis Vuitton to show its cruise collection in the south of France, at the Aimé and Marguerite Maeght Foundation, near to the village of St Paul de Vence. A villa open to the public and created with the help of several artists, painters and sculptors such as Miro, Chagall, Giacometti and Calder who had to imagine artworks which would integrated completely with the place. It is this relation, this mix of genres and art which inspired Nicolas Ghesquière for this collection. Collection: new silhouettes roam the garden of the foundation. Very graphic, with geometric shapes but also rounded clothes. The dresses, skirts and tops are knotted at the sides, with cuts allowing glimpses of the body. Several examples of frills, around the sleeves, the shoulders with the appearance of a new jackets sometimes integrating with the garment. The tones are based around beige, grey and earth which are reminiscent of the colours of the villa, also possessing some iridescent flashes or touches of black and gold. The blazers are coordinated with loose trousers, several blouson jackets are zipped, and are as beautiful inside as they are outside. Short lengths dominate, even with the thigh-high leather trainers, pulled on like socks to dress the outfit, even for lingerie looks with silk and lace. To note: the feathered jackets at the end of the show, all the flat silhouettes with the only propositions being boots and thigh-high trainers. + The collaboration with Grace Coddington, the famous American editor and stylist, whose sketches of animals like cats appear on the line of accessories. Music from the show (for use only in context of the show, under cover of the right to informaiton)
