Acting Defense Secretary Visits Border As Pentagon Works On Long-Term Border Plan

Description

According to a report by Reuters, on Saturday, acting US Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan made his second trip to the US Mexico border as the Pentagon looks to develop a long-term plan to support President Donald Trump's immigration policies. Shanahan reportedly met with officials in McAllen, Texas, and visited a migrant processing facility and Border Patrol station, just two days after the White House announced Trump's decision to nominate the former Boeing executive to serve as defense secretary. Shanahan reportedly said, "We're not going to leave until the border is secure." On Friday, Shanahan reportedly approved the transfer of $1.5 billion to build over 80 miles of barriers on the border.
