The first-ever BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe sees BMW bringing the four-door coupe concept that has already enjoyed great success in higher vehicle classes into the premium compact segment for the first time. This more dashing alternative to the classical sedan celebrates its arrival with a fresh dose of individuality, aesthetic appeal and emotional engagement, backed up by innovative control/operation and connectivity tech, excellent everyday usability and the dynamic capability for which BMW is renowned. The BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe will go on sale worldwide, the extrovert four-door coupe providing a particularly alluring gateway into the BMW product range.Built exclusively in Leipzig, Germany, the BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe represents the entry point to BMW ownership in the USA, and so it is fitting that the new model celebrates its world premiere at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November 2019. Around 20 per cent of 2-Series Gran Coupe models produced will find their way to the USA, while other key markets are China (from the end of 2020) with a target figure of 15 per cent and Europe, which should account for around a third of deliveries. Here, Germany (7 per cent) and Great Britain (6 per cent) are the major players. The BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe therefore has all the ingredients to fuel the enthusiasm of new, design-led customers in urban areas for BMW's hallmark driving pleasure. It represents an appealing addition to the model line-up, in particular in markets where the sedan body style enjoys strong popularity.
A four-door sports car has been added to the new BMW 8 Series range. BMW introduced the all-new 2019 BMW 8 Series Coupe. Initially available as the BMW M850i xDrive variant, the coupe makes its return to the U.S. after 20 years and writes a new chapter in the luxury sports coupe’s story of outstanding performance, beautiful design and state of the art technology.The new luxury sports coupe will be built at the BMW Dingolfing plant in Germany, home to BMW 7 Series sedan production. The number ‘8’ in the model name indicates the new vehicle’s high-ranking status within BMW’s product range. As in the past with the BMW Z8 and with the current BMW i8, it is reserved for exceptionally sporty cars that stir the emotions. The all-new BMW 8 Series Coupe is the first key component of the Munich-based brand’s luxury segment model offensive.The directive for the all-new BMW 8 Series Coupe’s design was to provide a thrilling driving experience. Body, powertrain and suspension were honed to achieve the agility, precision and poise expected of a top-class luxury sports coupe. The all-new BMW 8 Series Coupe was developed in parallel to the BMW M8 GTE race car, which has already proven its potential in the 2018 FIA World Endurance Championship long-distance races and in the 2018 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
The BMW M Performance model that will be available from launch provides a particularly impressive demonstration of the new BMW 8-Series Coupe's sporting essence. Under the bonnet of the BMW M850i xDrive Coupe lies a 390 kW/530 hp V8 engine that has undergone extensive refinement and produces formidable power. It serves up a particularly intense form of the unmistakable power delivery and acoustics of eight-cylinder units and is every bit as captivating and emotionally thrilling as the car it powers. The second engine available at market launch clearly demonstrates the long-distance prowess of the new BMW 8-Series Coupe. The 235 kW/320 hp six-cylinder in-line diesel engine in the BMW 840d xDrive Coupe combines instantaneous pulling power with exemplary efficiency that greatly reduces the number of refuelling stops necessary when touring. Both engines transfer their power to a latest-generation eight-speed Steptronic transmission that boasts a wider gear ratio spread and even sportier gear shifts and can be operated by means of shift paddles on the steering wheel. Completing the all-round package for supreme driving dynamics is the BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system, which is also fitted in a newly improved version that has been tuned for this specific model. The rear-wheel bias of the xDrive system and the rear differential lock fitted as standard on the BMW M850i xDrive Coupe ensure maximum agility and precision when the car's sporting capabilities are being put to the test.
Signature BMW driving pleasure, sporting elegance and modern functionality come together in the new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé. Its vehicle concept – comprising four doors, a large tailgate, dynamically flowing lines and five full-size seats – brings a highly distinctive character profile to the premium reaches of the midsize class. The second generation of the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé also makes its mark in fine style with noticeably enhanced driving dynamics, a sharper design in the brand’s new design language, a refined premium ambience in the cabin and a wide array of innovations in the areas of control/operation and connectivity. Five model variants will be available from launch, developing between 135 kW/184 hp and 275 kW/374 hp.
