These eight baby hedgehogs lost their mother in a lawnmower accident and the newly born hoglets were in desperate need of milk and affection. Luckily, after searching around at Sadgorod Zoo in the Russian city of Vladivostok, the hoglets found an unlikely wet-nurse in Musya the cat, who still had milk from feeding foster kittens. Prior to their adoption, the baby hedgehogs refused to be fed from a bottle or syringe and still blind, and were beginning to starve. The zoo was left with little choice but to try putting the mammals together with a new mother.
Kitten overboard! A small and scared baby cat was found struggling against the might waves of the Black Sea by boaters near the quiet vacation town of Kabardinka on Wednesday. The brave rescuers pulled the kitten to safety on a small boogie board and brought her into the safety of their boat to warm her up from the freezing waters. They then fed her a fish, which she ate with delight. The family is reportedly considering adoption of this curious little kitten, whose insatiable wonder definitely cost her one of her nine lives.
Meet Pooh, a cat who lost his hind legs after being hit by a car. Pooh is now walking again thanks to a one-of-a-kind operation that saw him get fitted with some special prosthetic paws in Bulgaria's capital Sofia. The ten-month-old cat’s new legs, made of polymer and rubber, were produced and implanted in Bulgaria. Following the operation, Pooh regained all of his lost weight and is playing like old times. The operation cost around $1,600 and was paid for by donations given to the animal rescue organisation “Let's Adopt Bulgaria”.
