The presentation of the new BMW 8-Series Coupe adds a brand new chapter to the Bavarian premium carmaker's long history of sensational sports cars - and gets its current model offensive in the luxury segment off to a particularly dynamic start. The BMW 8-Series Coupe is a dream car boasting outstanding performance, emotion-stirring design, state-of-the-art luxury and exceptionally advanced equipment features when it comes to display and control technology, driver assistance and connectivity.The worldwide market launch of the new BMW 8-Series Coupe will commence in November 2018. The sports car will be built at the BMW Dingolfing plant, which is also home to the BMW 7-Series sedans meaning that it has acquired tremendous expertise in the manufacture of luxury vehicles. The digit 8 in the model name is indicative of the newcomer's high-ranking status within BMW's product range. As in the past with the BMW Z8 and also with the current BMW i8, it is reserved for exceptionally sporty cars that fire the emotions. The BMW 8-Series Coupe will therefore be a key component of the luxury segment model offensive set out by the BMW Group as part of its NUMBER ONE > NEXT strategy.The primary development objective for the new BMW 8-Series Coupe was thrilling driving dynamics. Body, powertrain and suspension were consistently honed to achieve the supreme agility, precision and poise expected of a top-class sports car. In the process, remarkably powerful engines were combined with the BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system and BMW EfficientLightweight design measures. The new BMW 8-Series Coupe was developed in parallel to the BMW M8 GTE, which had already proven its potential in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) long-distance races and in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship (IWSC) held in North America. The production car now makes it possible to experience outstandingly dynamic performance in an exceedingly luxurious setting.
"The new BMW X5 is being launched with a choice of two petrol and two diesel representatives from the latest generation of engines. Heading the range is the BMW X5 xDrive50i (not available in Europe), whose extensively developed V8 unit is making its debut, while a BMW M Performance model also forms part of the launch line-up. The BMW X5 M50d is powered by a six-cylinder in-line diesel engine with a quartet of turbochargers. A six-cylinder in-line unit can also be found under the bonnet of the BMW X5 xDrive40i and BMW X5 xDrive30d. All the engines channel their power through an eight-speed Steptronic transmission, while BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive is on hand to ensure that power is translated into secure progress - on or off road. The BMW TwinPower Turbo technology package for the petrol engines comprises turbochargers, High Precision Injection, VALVETRONIC fully variable valve timing and Double-VANOS variable camshaft timing. On the diesel side, the raft of technological measures at work includes turbochargers and common-rail direct injection with piezo injectors. The result is instantaneous pulling power and sporty performance credentials on the one hand and exemplary fuel consumption and emissions on the other. All model variants comply with the requirements of the EU6d-TEMP emissions standard. The system of emission control for the petrol engines includes a gasoline particulate filter that minimises particulate emissions, while the diesel models boast BMW BluePerformance technology comprising a particulate filter, an oxidation catalyst, a NOx adsorption catalyst and an SCR catalyst with AdBlue injection to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions."
Its predecessor - the first ever Sports Activity Coupe at the premium end of the mid-size class - broke new ground and now the all-new BMW X4 is writing the next chapter in this story of success. Its vehicle concept, which fuses the hallmark features of a BMW X model with the sporting elegance of a coupe, has also proved an instant hit in this class. Approximately 200,000 units of the first-generation X4 have been sold around the world since the original model was launched in 2014. The all-new BMW X4 underscores its individual character with significantly enhanced driving dynamics, standout exterior design accentuating the car's sporting instincts, a further refined premium ambience in the interior, state-of-the-art driver assistance systems and leading-edge connectivity technologies. Added to which, the dynamic and extravagant aura of the Sports Activity Coupe is further highlighted by the addition of two BMW M Performance models to the line-up: the all-new BMW X4 M40i and all-new BMW X4 M40d.
