The mayor of Saint-Gervais in France suggests a €15,000 deposit would discourage unwary climbers from ignoring danger warnings.
Amateur climbers have been urged to steer clear of France's Mont Blanc as extreme heat is causing more frequent rockfalls.
Matthias Giraud, also known as "Super Frenchie" because of his thrill-seeking stunts, performs a Ski-BASE jump from the Aiguille du Goûter, a 4000 metre-high mountain in the Mont Blanc Massif in the French Alps. In his latest exploit, 10 years in the planning, Super Frenchie is seen enjoying an impressive descent and deploying his parachute while free-falling.
Alpinist and high mountain guide Charles Dubouloz climbed the north face of the Grandes Jorasse alone in the winter -- a feat never seen before in mountaineering.
