Officials say a Taliban suicide attack near the defense ministry in Kabul has killed at least 24 people and wounded 91 others. Nathan Frandino reports.

Herat, Jul 30 (EFE/EPA).- Security forces and popular resistance forces on Friday continued to resist Taliban attacks in the Pol-e Malan area of Guzara district in Herat. Taliban have been attacking Herat city from few parts for the past two days, but security forces have prevented Taliban attacks.There were reports of casualties on both sides of the conflict, but the government and the Taliban did not specify the exact number of casualties.The Taliban on Tuesday condemned the United States' decision to continue offering air support to Afghan security forces even after the withdrawal of international troops from the country, which has allowed the insurgents to make rapid territorial gains.
