Clerks shot to death in family-owned convenience store in Florida

Description

Two brothers working as clerks at family-owned convenience store in Palmetto, Florida were shot dead execution-style Monday afternoon during an apparent robbery.Palmetto Police Chief Scott Tyler said during a press conference that a man walked into the Florida convenience store pretending to purchase some items. The man then pulled a gun on the two clerks and shot them from close range. Both victims were shot in the head, Tyler said. "It was pretty cold-blooded," he told reporters.Their bothers’ bodies were discovered at 2:30 p.m. by another customer. Police are reviewing the surveillance video taken inside the store which shows a clear picture of the suspect."I'm afraid if we release this he'll go underground," Tyler said. "It does appear to have been a robbery."The clerks were identified as, 17-year-old Fares Yousef and 23-year-old Khasem Yousef, whose family owned the store. A family member was taken to the hospital by ambulance after being overcome by grief, reported the Bradenton Herald."This is a family business. I think he owns a couple stores in Manatee County and the store has been here awhile. You could definitely say it's a community store. A lot of people use it. There are normally a lot of people around. It's a close-knit community. It upsets people," said Tyler.
