Tesla Model S Burns to the Ground at Charging Station

Burning hoverboards are all the rage in recent weeks, but another battery-powered vehicle recently went up in flames in Norway: a Tesla Model S car. An image of the flame-engulfed vehicle was posted by Norway news site VGTV on Friday, just one day into the new year. In the image, viewers can clearly see what looks like a Tesla parked next to a Supercharger station, both covered in flames in broad daylight. Sources say firefighters are shown hosing the vehicle as it continues to give off thick smoke and flames. According to the NRK report, the car, a 2014 Tesla Model S, had been left by its owner to charge when it erupted in flames. No cause of the fire has been revealed, but the report notes that firefighters had to use special foam to extinguish the car, which is powered by lithium-ion batteries.
