Pope Francis is on his way to Uganda as part of his historic six-day visit to Africa, the first in his papacy. Thursday the Pontiff held a mass before hundreds of thousands of people in Nairobi, Kenya.

This is his fifth visit to Africa, flying to the Democratic Republic of Congo and then South Sudan to plead for peace in the two violence-plagued nations. Pope Francis was welcomed by Mauritian Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth on the runway as his plane landed in Port Louis. He will spend the day there as part of a visit to Indian Ocean countries before flying back to Madagascar and then on to Italy. IMAGES
