Senators from both sides of the aisle overruled President Barack Obama's veto of the 9/11 lawsuit bill, which would allow lawsuits against perceived foreign sponsors of terrorism, in Washington DC on Wednesday. Family members of the victims of the 9/11 attacks can now sue Saudi Arabia for its alleged involvement in the attack. The House of Representatives is expected to ratify the vote, setting up a historical defeat for the Obama administration.

Former national security adviser John Bolton didn't mince words after US President Donald Trump vetoed the annual bill to fund the US military. Trump's chief complaint with the bill is that it called for the renaming of military bases named after Confederate military figures. The must-pass, $741 billion bill was passed with widespread bipartisan support. According to Business Insider, Bolton told Trump to 'get out of the way,' and said Trump was 'not a conservative.' Trump's former national security adviser also described Trump's 'destructive' veto as a 'purely gratuitous action' and 'selfish.' President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris' have chosen a Covid-19 transition advisory board. The newly appointed team is led by established public health officials and staffed by doctors and government officials. The board is co-chaired by former FDA Commissioner Dr. David Kessler, former Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy and Dr. Marcella Nunez-Smith. According to CNN, Dr. Marcells Nunez-Smith is a Yale associate professor of medicine and epidemiology. Also on the advisory board are well-known medical figures, including Dr. Zeke Emanuel, and Dr. Atul Gawand. Rounding out the board's expertise is Rick Bright, who led the government's production and purchase of vaccines.
