Police say a man wearing a ballistic vest and armed with an assault rifle was shot dead after he opened fire on two Boston police officers, critically wounding them. Linda So reports.

Addressing the recent police deaths in Dallas , the president said that "five days ago I travelled to Dallas for the memorial service of the officers who were slain there. I said that, that killer would not be the last person who tries to make us turn on each other nor will today's killer. It remains up to us to make sure that they fail."

US President Barack Obama addressed hundreds of people in Dallas on Tuesday, at a memorial service for the five policemen who were killed at a protest organised in response to the fatal shootings of two black men last week.
Dallas Police Chief Officer David Brown gave a press conference, Monday, at which he explained the guidance he gave to use a bomb robot to kill the man who is believed to have killed at least five police officers. Rounds ripped through downtown Dallas, last Thursday, killing five police officers and wounding at least seven more. The suspect was identified as Micah Xavier Johnson who was killed by a detonation squad robot in the standoff with the police.
