The Canyon Grail:ON is a collaboration of two of the biggest growing markets in the cycling sector, electric and gravel. An evolution from the Grail, Canyon has redesigned its gravel bike for its motorised twin and in doing so, created a bike that has really made us sit up in our chairs. Canyon has built the Grail:ON to tackle the toughest terrain thanks to 50mm tyres specced as standard, a robust carbon fibre frame and relaxed wheelbase all combined with a Bosch Performance Line CX motor system that is one of the best we have ever tested. Uber are trialling their Jump electric bike rental service app in London.
At the Consumer Electronics Show, or CES, in Las Vegas, NV, a robot called the AvatarMind iPal was present. The robot is meant to be a source of companionship for children, the elderly, and hospitality/retail. It’s the size of a small child, weighs 28 lbs, and has four wheels. You can tickle it by jabbing its ribs fairly hard so it will emit fake laughter and robotic arm flailing.
Samsung delighted their fans by making the Galaxy S7 phones waterproof again. The phones can withstand being under at least a meter of water and for at least 30 minutes. But it turns out the phones don’t just handle being dunked — they also know when they’re wet. S7 will warn you if it detects any moisture lurking in the one weak spot in any waterproof phone design: its charging port. One user reported that his phone would no longer charge after performing a dunk test. When he plugged his Samsung fast charger in, the phone displayed a message that moisture had been detected in the charging port and the current never started flowing.
