2014 Chevrolet Camaro and 2014 Cadillac CTS revealed at the 2013 NY Auto Show
Volkswagen introduced the next member of the ID concept family at the 2019 New York International Motor Show - the ID Buggy. Drawing inspiration from the classic Californian dune buggies of the 60s, the ID Buggy shows the versatility of the modular electric drive matrix (MEB) and puts the fun in functional.ID Buggy is at once futuristic and retro. The MEB chassis integrates a 62kWh lithium-ion battery into the floor and a 201-horsepower electric motor in the rear to give it an expected range of 155 miles on the WLTP cycle. The minimalistic design-no doors or roof on this two-seater-gives drivers the purest experience of classic beach cruising.Like the dune buggies of the 60s, ID Buggy is extremely versatile. All buggies from the 60s featured a high degree of modular variability-based on the chassis of the legendary Beetle with a four-cylinder boxer engine running at the rear. Small-series manufacturers stretched a body made of fiberglass over the chassis and engine of the Beetle, thus writing automotive history. The same versatility is possible with ID Buggy-while the ID Buggy concept car is a pure 2-seater; it can also be converted to a 2+2-seater and an additional electric motor could be added to the front axle in order to make four-wheel drive possible. In addition, the BUGGY's modular design allows for the composite upper body to be detached from the MEB chassis, opening up a world of possibilities for third-party manufacturers, as the original Meyers Manx kit did for the first buggies.
One of the advantages of Volkswagen's newly developed EV platform is that it can easily be adapted for a wide variety of uses. To show off that flexibility, Volkswagen created a modern take on the Meyers Manx called the ID Buggy. When it was revealed ahead of the Geneva motor show, we thought it was cool. But now that we've heard it's close to being greenlit for production, we're much more interested. It may not be the best-selling car in Volkswagen's future lineup, but how cool would it be to actually drive a full-production electric dune buggy?
Each generation of the R8 brings to the road know-how acquired on the racetrack and from the legacy of Audi endurance racing. This year is no different. Updates to the 2020 R8 model line deliver a refreshed exterior design. The updated front bumper includes a new honeycomb grille with R8 badge, front spoiler lip, and lateral air intakes. The updated rear bumper continues with honeycomb air outlets, oval exhaust pipes, and a new rear diffuser. The headlights have also been darkened, and the rocker panel has been redesigned and includes an inlay. On the V10 model, the lower trim is finished in high-gloss black, and on the V10 performance model, the lower trim is finished in titanium color, with an option to select carbon fiber.
