The all-electric Jaguar I-PACE has been voted ‘Car of the Year’ at the European Car of the Year Awards 2019. This is the first time a Jaguar has won the coveted prize. Designed and developed in the UK, the Jaguar I-PACE has had profound sales success globally, with more than 8,000 customer deliveries to date – 75 per cent of them in Europe.Nothing else on the road looks or drives like the I-PACE. It is engineered to take full advantage of its electric powertrain and bespoke aluminium architecture, offering sports car performance and SUV practicality.Charging is made easy for customers using the Jaguar public charging service, accessed via a dedicated app or using an RFID key. With tailor-made charging packages and tariffs compiled into a simple monthly bill, it gives I-PACE customers access to more than 85,000 charging points throughout Europe.
Jaguar's I-Pace battery-electric SUV has won the 2019 Car of the Year award in an incredibly tight contest between it and Renault's Alpine sports coupé. Formal voting ended with each car sharing 250 votes apiece; the first time there's been a draw in the Coty award since it was started in 1964.In keeping with the rules, the votes were then recounted to see which of the 60 jurors voted each car ahead of the other; with that recount done, the Jaguar came out first with 18 first places ahead of the Alpine's 16.This is the first Jaguar to win the award in the Coty's 55 years and a visibly delighted Ian Callum, Jaguar's director of design, received the award from jury president Frank Janssen.

Volvo snatched its first "Car of the Year" award in more than 50 years on Monday, as its XC40 SUV was crowned on the eve of this year's Geneva International Motor Show. XC40 was made winner by a jury of 60 journalists from 23 European countries after gathering 325 points, an ample margin over the other six finalists that include the second place Seat Ibiza from Spain, the third place BMW 5-series, as well as Alfa Romeo Stelvio, Audi A8, Citroën C3 Aircross, and Kia Stinger. The group of seven finalists came last November from a long list of 37 candidates. The award takes consideration a span of criteria such as innovation and security, design and the value for money. Volvo has been a finalist on a number of occasions, but this is the first time it has won this prestigious award, with 83 points separating it from its competitors.
