Land Rover showcases the highly anticipated New Defender at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show.Several variants of the New Defender make their North American debut, including the Defender 90 First Edition, the Defender 110 and also the vehicle from the upcoming James Bond movie – No Time to Die. Reimagined for the 21st century, the New Defender offers the most off-road capable Land Rover vehicle ever while staying true to the brand’s iconic design and reputation for rugged go-anywhere utility.
Jaguar Land Rover debuted their first fully electric vehicle in China – the Jaguar I-PACE. The car was revealed to the Chinese market at the Beijing Motor Show. China is a significant market for Jaguar Land Rover, and with nearly 1 in every 50 autos sold in the country last year an electric one, the British automaker recognise that the East Asian nation is well on its way to an all-electric future. This supports Jaguar Land Rover’s electrification plans, as they too have announced that every new model line will be electrified from 2020.
The Jaguar I-PACE is the electric vehicle drivers have been waiting for. Clean, smart and safe, the I-PACE delivers sustainable sports car performance, next-generation artificial intelligence (AI) technology and five-seat SUV practicality to place Jaguar at the forefront of the EV revolution. With a state-of-the-art 90kWh Lithium-ion battery using 432 pouch cells, the I-PACE delivers a range of 480km (WLTP cycle). Owners will be able to achieve a 0-80 per cent battery charge in just 40 minutes using DC rapid charging (100kW). Home charging with an AC wall box (7kW) will achieve the same state of charge in just over ten hours – ideal for overnight charging. A suite of smart range-optimising technologies includes a battery pre-conditioning system: when plugged in the I-PACE will automatically raise (or lower) the temperature of its battery to maximise range ahead of driving away.
