Meet Nina Bychkova, the 12-year-old girl from Novosibirsk with locks so long that locals call her the Siberian Rapunzel. Nina never had a haircut - not once in her life - and her flowing hair has grown to an astonishing length of nearly 55 inches. Taking care of all that hair is no easy feat. Nina never colors or straightens her hair in order to keep it protected. The Siberian Rapunzel hopes to get the Guinness world record for the longest hair in the under 18 category.
These adorable baby monkeys are clones! 8-week-old Zhong Zhong and 6-week-old Hua Hua became the first primates to be successfully cloned using somatic cell nuclear transfer, and were unveiled in Suzhou on Wednesday. The pair of long-tailed macaques frolicked in their incubator, unaware of the scientific milestone they represent. The Chinese Academy of Sciences carried out the cloning in order to further biological experimentation, given exact clones will provide more reliable data during testing. Their genetic similarity to humans also increases the likelihood of human clones in the near future.
