Adorable Alpaca Costume Contest in Denver Too Cute for Words

Description

Hundreds of alpaca owners and enthusiasts from across the country attended the Alpaca Costume Contest at the National Western Complex in Denver, Colorado last weekend, to see their favourite four-legged fluff balls compete for the best dressed. This event was actually like Halloween for alpacas with an added twist. While alpacas are usually valued for the quality of their coat, these adorable alpacas were judged for the creativity of their costume, the ability to parade while in costume, and the story behind their decorative duds. Both adults and children attended the event, where they could meet and take pictures with the alpacas and see the animals strut through the arena's main ring dressed up in a variety of curious attires. The Alpaca Costume Contest was part of the Alpaca Owners Association National Show and Auction, which ran from March 17th to 19th. Alpacas, which are basically a smaller version of llamas, are a demosticated camelid species from South America raised for their fiber. Does anyone else feel the need to become a member of the Alpaca Owners Association?
