Taiwan steps up efforts to curb spread of coronavirus

Taipei, Feb 16 (EFE/EPA).- Taiwan's health authorities on Monday are stepping up precautionary measures to limit the spread of the new coronavirus outbreak after the island confirmed its first death from the disease on Sunday.Health Minister Chen Shih-chung told reporters that the victim, who died Saturday, was a 61-year-old male who had diabetes and hepatitis B.He had been hospitalized with COVID-19 on February and died from pneumonia-related complications.According to the official CNA news agency, the victim was a taxi driver who had regularly come into contact with clients from China, Hong Kong and Macao.Symptoms of the disease include fever, fatigue, dry cough and difficulty breathing.SHOT LIST: PEOPLE WEAR MASKS AS A PROTECTION FROM CORONAVIRUS IN TAIPEI, TAIWAN.
