BMW 2 Series Active Tourer and BMW X1 Performance in a side crash, Euro NCAP
The BMW X1 and 2 Series Active Tourer each get five stars with almost identical scores in all parts of the assessment. BMW thus successfully carries over the top ratings for the latest generation of these popular models, despite the tougher protocol requirements of 2022.
Tests on the BMW 2 Series Coupé showed that the car is offering good crash protection and satisfactory protection to vulnerable road users. The autonomous emergency braking system performed adequately in more straightforward testing scenarios, involving other cars and pedestrians, but was limited in the more challenging scenarios such as cyclist crossing and turning across path. The car achieved a creditable four stars as a result.

Polestar 2 receives a 5-star rating in the Euro NCAP safety test, making it one of the safest electric vehicles ever tested by the Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Program) association. Polestar 2 achieved excellent results in all test criteria. The hatchback sedan is also convincing in direct comparison with other premium electric cars outside its segment - although it should be noted that these vehicles were evaluated in previous years according to older, less stringent test protocols.Crash safety, in particular, was of course the top priority for the vehicle developed at the Volvo Safety Center in Gothenburg, Sweden.
The 2 Series Gran Coupe is based on the BMW 1 Series tested in 2019. Where necessary, additional tests have been performed and test results have been reviewed. Based on this analysis, Euro NCAP concludes that the rating of the 1 Series can be applied also to the 2 Series Gran Coupe, with the following exception: the 2 Series Gran Coupe and, since October 2020, the 1 Series are now equipped with front seats and head restraints which offer better whiplash protection than those originally tested in the 1 Series and the car qualifies for points in AEB City. As a consequence, the adult occupant score of the 2 Series is higher than that of the 1 Series.
