Britain's Secretary of State for Transport Grant Shapps announces that 684 more people have died after testing positive for COVID-19 in hospital in the UK, taking the death toll to 19,506. British Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Alok Sharma says that 563 people have died from coronavirus in the UK in one day, a new record marking a clear acceleration of the pandemic and bringing the death toll to 2,352, up 563 on the previous day. The chief executive of Britain's independent medicines regulator, June Raine, announces that out of 79 cases of blood clots in people having received a first dose of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine, 19 people have died, during a press conference over concerns about links between AstraZeneca's Covid-19 vaccine and blood clots.
