EU launches initiative seeking 7.5 bn euros for Covid-19 research

Description

The European Union is hosting a pledge marathon aimed at seeking 7.5 billion euros for research, testing and treatment of the coronavirus. Individual states, private institutions and companies are being asked to galvanise for fundraising. Europe editor Catherine Nicholson says that, notably, China and the United States are not part of the initiative.

  • Algeria launches ambitious Covid-19 vaccination campaign

    Algiers, Sep 4 (EFE) .-Algeria launched Saturday an ambitious nationwide vaccination campaign to curb the Covid-19 pandemic and significantly raise the level of immunization, that barely reaches 17 percent of the population after six months.According to the Minister of Health, Abderrahman Benbuzid, the goal is to reach 70 percent of the population by the end of this year, which forces to triple in just three months the number of doses that have been given in the country since the first vaccine was injected last January.
