Thailand to extend state of emergency as confirmed cases tops 2,900

Bangkok, Apr 27 (EFE/EPA).- Thailand has registered nine new cases of coronavirus and one death, bringing the total confirmed cases to 2,931 and the death toll to 52, according to a press conference by Dr. Taweesilp Visanuyothin, spokesperson of Thailand's Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) on Monday.Health authorities in Thailand has been proactively carrying out COVID-19 screening tests in various Bangkok communities to help combat the spread of the virus, while the government are awaiting the cabinet's final approval to extend the state of emergency in the country until May 31.
