India continues to evacuate stranded migrants amid pandemic

Bhopal, May 7 (EFE/EPA).- The Indian government and Indian Railways have partially resumed passenger train services to run special trains to evacuate stranded migrants, students, pilgrims and tourists in Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and Odisha amid the ongoing COVID-19 lockdown. Passengers arriving on these trains are quarantined for 14 days and monitored by the local health authorities. Indian ministry of home affairs (MHA) extended the nationwide lockdown for another two weeks to stem the widespread of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which causes the COVID-19 disease.(Camera: SANJEEV GUPTA)FOOTAGE SHOWS PASSENGERS ARRIVING AT HABIGANJ STATION NEAR BHOPAL, INDIA AND BEING CHECKED BY HEALTHWORKERS.
