Jewish headstones used as cobblestones found in Prague

Description

Prague (Czech Republic), May 6 (EFE), (Camera: Martin Divisek).- Hundreds of cobblestones created from cut Jewish tombstones were found in recent days during the reconstruction of the Wenceslas Square. According to the Jewish community in Prague, during the manual dismantling of the original paving, dozens of stones with remnants of texts and hundreds of stones made of polished marble were found. These findings confirm that during the communist regime, Jewish gravestones often served as building material, partly also for paving pedestrian areas.
