On Wednesday morning Pres.Donald Trump tweeted his anger at Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. What did McConnell do to anger Trump? He congradulated President-elect Joe Biden after the Electoral College confirmed his election victory. "Too soon to give up." "Republican party must finally learn to fight. People are angry!" Business Insider reports that Trump's claims that he won the election have no basis in fact. He has repeatedly failed in his attempts to challenge the results in court.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected a request to overturn President-elect Joe Biden's victory in Pennsylvania. According to Business Insider, the request was put forth by a group of Republican state legislators, led by US Rep. Mike Kelly. They asked the court for an emergency order nullifying Biden's win, claiming the state legislature did not have the power to expand mail-in voting. It's yet another defeat among dozens of the Trump campaign's ongoing attempts to keep Trump in office for a second term. Battleground states Pennsylvania, Michigan, Georgia, Nevada, Arizona, and Wisconsin have all certified their results as of last week. Tuesday is also the "safe harbor" deadline by which all 50 states have to certify their results and resolve any legal disputes surrounding the results.
President-elect Joe Biden continues to rack up the most votes won by any candidate in US history. As of Wednesday at 4 p.m., Biden earned more than 80 million votes in the 2020 presidential election. Business Insider reports that President Donald Trump has secured nearly 74 million votes so far. That's the second for most votes in any American presidential election.
