Nicaraguans hunker down ahead of Hurricane Iota landfall

Description

Locals in Nicaragua board up their homes ahead of a maximum-level Category 5 hurricane Iota, which made landfall Monday, threatening to deliver more drenching rains and fierce winds to areas devastated by a powerful storm just two weeks ago. Authorities had rushed to evacuate thousands of people from coastal areas of both Nicaragua and neighbouring Honduras, in the immediate path of the storm.
