Venice canals empty of gondolas in once-overcrowded, now deserted city

Description

On St. Mark's Square, even the pigeons have disappeared and on the famous canals, Venice's iconic gondolas remain anchored in harbours, calm and inactive due to measures imposed to halt the spread of the coronavirus. Tourists from all over the world and locals no longer breathe the routine of bustling city life into the enchanting scenery Venice is known for as images show the floating city in a rare state of tranquility.
