Tokyo starts life under new normal after lifting health alert

Tokyo, May 26 (EFE).- Tokyo started life under a new normal on Tuesday after lifting its health alert for the coronavirus pandemic.Shops and offices have been gradually reopening in the Japanese capital, although with social distancing measures still in place in a bid to avoid new infections.There were more people out in the streets of the city, which is home to 14 million, as many establishments opened their doors for the first time since the beginning of April.Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe announced the end of the health emergency in Tokyo and four other prefectures where measures were still in force, bringing the entire country out of lockdown.
